About the work
A three-movement concerto for violin, cello and string orchestra in which the soloists move between dialogue, rivalry and shared lyricism. The music was also used for choreography by Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo.
Movement II
II
The central movement turns inward, allowing the violin and cello to emerge through suspended sonorities and increasingly intricate shared lines.
Movement III
III
A brilliant finale driven by changing metres, quick exchanges and the soloists’ movement between competition and alliance.
