Programme note
Five song settings for voice, flute and guitar, based on Indigenous poems published in John Bierhorst’s 1971 collection In the Trail of the Wind: American Indian Poems and Ritual Orations. The cycle is imagined as if heard in late afternoon on an open plain, with wind and distant birdcalls forming an unseen background.
